I was first instructed in the use of Photoshop 6.0 in 2001, while in a U.S. The programs are also user-friendly enough that most people can get started fairly easily as I did. Sure, there are other programs out there, even free ones, but the install base on Adobe products is huge, meaning that there are tons of tutorials and user forums where you can get training or assistance if you need it. For the general or occasional user, this is a great product. I've used it to adjust some brightness or color in some photos that I have taken, so I'm not using it for graphic design, although I could just as well. I don't use Photoshop all that much, but when I do want it, I have it. The Pro version allows for more 'tracks', so you can add more audio, video, or overlays in Pro, but again, I don't need as many bells and whistles. I use Premiere to make YouTube videos or videos for volunteer organizations that I work with. I admit that it is limited when compared to Pro, but for casual or small business use, it's perfect. I refuse to do subscriptions, so I was happy that they still sell this version. Most people who use it use the Pro versions, which are a subscription-based program through Adobe. Adobe Premiere and Photoshop are one of the top video and photo editing applications out there.
